What the preview does

Connect ChatGPT to your Whelpify account and describe the work you want done. It can read the information you allow, discover the actual design options and fields in Whelpify, and prepare changes for you to review.

This is an early preview. There may be bugs, and some tasks still require a browser step. You approve changes in Whelpify before they run. The connection is not a promise that ChatGPT can perform every possible dashboard task unattended.

Before you start

  • Sign in to your own breeder account. Demo accounts and platform impersonation cannot authorize a connection.
  • Your Whelpify installation must have the preview enabled. If the connection screen says it is unavailable, contact Whelpify support.
  • Your ChatGPT account must support custom MCP connections. Availability and permission to enable developer mode depend on your account and workspace policies. A workspace administrator may need to help.

You do not need an OpenAI API key, and you should never paste your Whelpify password into a chat.

Connect your website

  1. In Whelpify, open Account → ChatGPT connection in the sidebar.
  2. Click Copy connection URL. Use the address shown there, not your kennel’s custom domain.
  3. In ChatGPT, enable Developer mode if your account requires it. OpenAI’s current guide places this under Settings → Security and login.
  4. Open ChatGPT’s Plugins page and use the plus button to add a custom connection. Enter a name such as My Whelpify website and paste the connection URL. Choose OAuth authentication if prompted. Whelpify supports dynamic client registration, so you do not need to supply a client secret.
  5. Follow the sign-in prompt to Whelpify. Check the website name and the app requesting access. Choose the permissions you want to grant, then click Connect website.
  6. Start a new ChatGPT conversation and enable the connection from its tools menu. Ask: “Show me which Whelpify website is connected and what you can help me change.”

ChatGPT’s interface changes over time. Check the official connection instructions if its labels differ. This preview uses a custom connection; Whelpify is not claiming an approved public plugin-directory listing.

ChatGPT connection settings and activity in Whelpify

Choose permissions

Website reading and proposed website edits are selected initially when requested by the app. Customer information, billing, and sending messages are separate choices.

  • Website: Read site content and settings, puppies, dogs, litters, reviews, blog posts, forms and the media library; propose edits.
  • Customers: Read customer contacts, applications and conversations; propose customer workflow changes.
  • Billing: Read billing/payment information and propose financial actions.
  • Messages: Propose messages, invitations, email automation changes and waitlist broadcasts.

Grant only the permissions you want to use. Reading permission allows the connected AI service to receive that information. Its own data policies apply. Passwords, private provider tokens and payment-card details are not exposed by these tools.

Review and apply changes

  1. Tell ChatGPT what you want to do.
  2. It prepares a proposal and gives you a review link. Nothing has been applied yet.
  3. Open the link in Whelpify. Review the actual values, records, and action shown, including any messages or payment amounts.
  4. Click Approve and apply, or Reject change.
  5. Return to ChatGPT and ask it to check the result.

A page save marked draft stays private. A save marked published changes the live page. Other approved actions, including messages and payment requests, can have immediate effects.

Proposals expire after 24 hours. If the record changed after a proposal was prepared, ask ChatGPT to read it again and create a fresh proposal. Duplicate approval clicks do not run an operation twice. If a change remains executing, contact support before asking for another copy of the same action.

Examples to try

  • “Read my homepage and suggest a warmer introduction. Keep all facts accurate and prepare it as a draft.”
  • “Show me the available hero layouts, then prepare a change using one that puts the photo beside the heading.”
  • “Change my primary brand color to #355E4B and keep my other branding settings.”
  • “Add Bella to the litter we discussed. Ask me for any missing required information before preparing the puppy record.”
  • “Import these original reviews, keep their dates, and leave them pending until I review them.”
  • “Find the customer’s current application and prepare a request for changes.”
  • “Prepare a message to this family confirming our pickup arrangements. Show me the exact wording first.”
  • “Help me update the payment method for my Whelpify subscription.”

Import owner reviews

Paste the original reviews into ChatGPT, or provide a CSV/spreadsheet if your ChatGPT account supports file uploads. Ask it to prepare the review import using the original reviewer name, message, rating and date. Dates must be in YYYY-MM-DD form.

Each proposal supports up to 50 reviews. Larger imports can be split into batches. Reviews start as pending unless you explicitly choose another supported status. Exact existing matches on name, message and original date are skipped; a changed spelling or different text may need your review to avoid duplicates. A batch saves all its new reviews together.

Existing Whelpify media IDs can be attached as review photos. Public image URLs can be copied to the media library through an approved import. Private ChatGPT attachments may need to be uploaded through the Whelpify media screen first.

More ways it can help

  • Find puppies by litter or status, and read messages in a particular conversation.
  • Update lead follow-up dates and notes, mark selected waitlist entries active or inactive, and prepare bulk deletion for review.
  • Count a broadcast audience before proposing an email.
  • Export customers, waitlist entries, payments or offers as CSV, with the relevant read permission. Exports include up to 2,000 records; very large results may need the dashboard export.
  • Check a custom page address, read domain DNS instructions, refresh domain or Stripe status, and clear notifications.

For bulk changes, check the completed and failed counts. A partial result means some items changed; review those before retrying. Password changes, private file uploads, image cropping, onboarding wizard steps and support attachments use their existing dashboard screens.

Billing and browser steps

The preview can prepare invoices, record offline payments, handle offer refunds/credits, change supported payment settings, and help with subscription cancellation or resumption. Financial actions still require your explicit approval in Whelpify.

Changing a card, entering bank details, and verifying identity happen in the secure Stripe page opened after approval. Domain purchases use the existing Domains checkout in Whelpify; ChatGPT can check availability and pricing and direct you there. Password changes and social-account sign-in remain in the dashboard. The AI does not receive your card, bank-login or password information.

For any unsupported action, ChatGPT should explain the limitation and direct you to the relevant dashboard screen. Ask it to check the available actions rather than guessing.

Disconnect or reconnect

Open ChatGPT connection in Whelpify and click Disconnect next to the app, or Disconnect all apps for this website to remove all your connections for this website. Use More connections to view older entries. These controls remain available if the preview is temporarily disabled. New requests and pending changes from that connection are blocked. An action already running may finish.

Connection and approval history is kept while a connection is active and removed by scheduled cleanup starting 30 days after disconnection or expiry. Disconnecting does not delete information already shared with ChatGPT.

Connections expire after 90 days. You can reconnect earlier to change the granted permissions. Removing your access to the website also stops the connection.

If something does not work

  • No custom connection option in ChatGPT: Check your account/workspace access and the official setup guide. Contact Whelpify for help finding the best option for your account.
  • Authentication failed: Use the exact URL from Whelpify, choose OAuth with dynamic client registration, and start the connection again. Do not use a kennel subdomain or custom domain.
  • Temporarily unavailable: Wait briefly and try again. A temporary service problem does not mean you need to reconnect.
  • Expired proposal: Ask ChatGPT to read the latest information and prepare a new proposal.
  • Missing permission: Reconnect and grant the permission needed for that task.
  • A change did not appear: Check its status in ChatGPT connection → Changes and activity. A pending proposal or private page draft does not change the live site.
  • Wrong design option or invalid field: Ask ChatGPT to read the editing options and current record before trying again.

If you report a problem, include what you wanted to do, the operation ID or review link, and what happened. Do not send passwords or connection tokens. Your feedback helps us improve the preview.
