Posting to Facebook and Instagram

Your social studio

Open More, then Social Posts in your dashboard. Social Posts has your connected accounts, Posting rules, Review & queue, and Post history in one place.

Website social links are separate. Enter your profile URLs in Settings → Social links to show icons in your footer. Those links do not connect your accounts or authorize posting.

Connect Facebook and Instagram

1. Choose Connect Facebook & Instagram.
2. Sign in with the person who manages your breeder Facebook Page and allow the requested permissions.
3. If you authorize several Pages, Whelpify asks which one to use. Select your breeder Page within ten minutes.
4. Check the Page name shown in Social Posts. Instagram uses the professional Business or Creator account linked to that Page.

Use Check connection to check that Page and refresh its linked Instagram account. A missing account and a permissions error are different: the page explains which one Meta returned. If the account you expected is missing, check the Facebook Page name and the Instagram account linked to it, then Reconnect or change Page and grant access to both.

Changing the publishing account does not silently redirect existing queued posts. Review those posts to confirm the new destination.

Choose when puppy posts happen

Under When you add a puppy, choose:

• Off: no new puppy posts are prepared.
• Ask me first: prepare a draft and notify you in your dashboard. Nothing is sent until you approve.
• Post automatically: queue a post using your saved caption and the puppy’s photos (up to 10, in profile order).

Choose whether a post is prepared when a puppy first appears on your website or becomes Available on your website. Hidden puppies never trigger posts. There is one introduction per puppy per platform; later edits or status changes do not create duplicates. Turning posting on does not announce existing puppies retroactively.

Choose Facebook, Instagram, or both under Share to. Each selected platform needs its account connected. Instagram needs a photo.

Click Save settings to apply your choices. Automatic posts are normally sent within a few minutes. The worker checks current settings before sending: turning automatic posting off stops unapproved queued posts. Posts you explicitly approved remain approved. Use Skip this post to cancel a queued post before publishing starts.

Write your own captions

Make it sound like you has separate Facebook and Instagram templates. Switch between the platforms to edit each one and see its preview.

Insert Puppy name, Kennel name, or Puppy link wherever you want. Each new draft uses the actual puppy’s details. Links in Instagram captions are not clickable.

The suggested caption introduces the puppy without prices, deposits, or sales wording. Whelpify does not automatically copy the puppy’s sales description into the caption. You are responsible for the complete post, including photos and links; a preview does not guarantee acceptance under Meta’s policies.

Photos are fitted into a square JPEG without cropping, with a neutral border where needed. The preview approximates the post; Meta may display it differently.

Review, edit, and approve

1. Open Review & queue, then Review post.
2. Edit the caption and choose or upload up to 10 photos. Drag to reorder them; the first photo leads the gallery.
3. Check the platform and account name above the preview.
4. Click Approve & publish to queue that platform’s post, Save as draft to keep reviewing, or Skip this post to dismiss it.

Facebook and Instagram drafts are reviewed separately, so you can tailor each one. Editing a social draft does not change your puppy profile or caption template. Instagram drafts without photos stay in review.

If a connection or account changes, review any affected posts. If publishing was interrupted, check the actual social account before confirming a retry: Meta may already have accepted the first request. Whelpify does not automatically retry uncertain deliveries.

Website updates and blog posts

The Website updates & blog posts rule controls posts created when you publish a blog update. It uses the update’s excerpt (or title) and featured photo. You can turn this off, require approval, or publish automatically independently of puppy posts. Existing accounts retain their previous behavior until you change this setting.

Galleries and Carousels

Puppies with multiple photos are shared as one Facebook gallery or Instagram carousel. Whelpify includes up to 10 photos, in the order on the puppy profile. One photo still creates a normal photo post. The Instagram preview lets you step through each image; the Facebook preview shows a gallery. Meta controls the final layout.

Review drafts keep their own photo selection. Updating a puppy later does not replace the photos in a draft you already reviewed.

Check results

Review & queue shows drafts, queued posts, and errors with explanations. Post history shows published, skipped, and publishing posts. The Social Posts sidebar badge and the dashboard’s Ready for Your Attention panel show how many drafts or errors need you. Approving or skipping a post clears it from that count. Use Refresh for the latest publishing result. Older posts may not have a saved caption or photo preview.

Social posting is separate from customer emails. Saving these settings does not email your families.
